About NINTONDO
“Nintondo” is the mysterious single word hidden in Dogecoin’s genesis block since December 2013.
It was first created by Billy Markus (@BillyM2K) in November 2013 when he launched Bellscoin — a playful coin inspired by Nintendo’s Animal Crossing (where “Bells” is the currency). Shortly after he created Dogecoin, keeping the exact same genesis message: “Nintondo” — his cheeky Nintendo + Bells mashup.
To this day, both Dogecoin and Bellscoin carry the word “Nintondo” in their very first coinbase transaction.

THE BLOCK ZERO DOGE-IVERSE MEME
1
The Animals Crossing Origin
In November 2013, Billy Markus (@BillyM2K) launched his very first coin: Bellscoin.
It was directly inspired by Nintendo’s Animal Crossing — the cozy game where adorable animal villagers live peaceful lives and use “Bells” as their currency.
Billy turned that simple idea into a real cryptocurrency.
Then, just 8 days later, he created Dogecoin… but he kept the exact same genesis message he had already written: “Nintondo”.
“Nintondo” was Billy’s playful meme-nod of Nintendo + Animal Crossing.
A cheeky little inside joke only he understood at the time.

The Tweets That Confused Everyone
Fast-forward to 12 years. @dogecoin tweeted: “And Nintondo won.” Billy simply replied: “Nintondo”. Most people were confused — was it random? Or just a 12-year-old typo? Now we know the truth: it was never random and never a mistake. It’s the hidden bridge between Billy’s first coin (Bellscoin), Nintendo’s Animal Crossing, and Dogecoin. A meme before the meme.

The DogeCoin Creator Gets On Board
We asked Billy Markus (@BillyM2K) what the real lore behind “Nintondo” is. He confirmed it was originally inscribed in Bellscoin’s genesis block as a nod to Nintendo and Animal Crossing. Since Dogecoin was a quick fork of Bellscoin, the same “Nintondo” ended up in Dogecoin’s genesis block too. When he saw our $NINTONDO launch and noticed that 100% of the trading fees on Pump.fun are being sent to him, Billy replied with a kind and appreciative message and claimed the fees! We’re truly honored by his response. This project isn’t about farming his name — it’s a genuine tribute to one of the oldest and purest pieces of Dogecoin lore from 2013.
it was inscribed in the genesis block of bellscoin as a nod to nintendo / animal crossing

then since dogecoin was a quick fork of bellscoin it’s also in doge’s genesis block xD

- i do appreciate when people aren’t just farming me / using my name to promote / acting pushy or entitled
and
- i do of course appreciate and accept tips (and consider directing fees tips)
so, this gesture is appreciated, thank you
